Go Dog, Go!
Friday is the big day when all the kids dress up as their favorite character from their favorite book. The boys agreed on “Go Dog, Go!”
One trip to the art supplies store and about an hour later, “Voila!”.
For those who do not recall “Go Dog, Go!”, here’s a refresher:

Happy 3rd Birthday Nolan!
Christina and I visited Nolan’s class this morning to deliver the cupcakes Marieta and I made.
The cupcakes turned out OK – some better than others.
Nolan’s classmates’ reactions were a bit mixed. They seemed vexed about whether or not they wanted to rip Elmo’s eyes out and eat his delicious chocolate brains.
Most had no problem with it.
We also had a big Birthday Blowout for Nolan and Liam at the local Bambini Playclub a couple of weekends back.

Soccer Drills
Here we are at Liam’s soccer practice.
Nolan is not on the team yet, but that doesn’t keep him from doing his own training on the sidelines.

Hello Duckboat
Christina was out of town for a couple of weeks in January, so to offset the boredom, the boys and I went for a ride on the Duckboat. Normally it’s just a touristy thing to do, but it was actually pretty interesting. They take you on a ride from Suntec City shopping mall to the Kallang Basin/Resevoir where you enter the water. From there you tour past the Singapore Flyer, the Esplanade and the Merlion fountain/statue. Then it’s back out of the water and a quick drive past the Padang (sports field), Raffles Hotel and a couple other points of interest. The tour guide was pretty good… not too cheesy, and I actually learned a couple of things about Singapore.
It killed one afternoon anyway.

Soccer Practice at the National Stadium
We are playing a little bit of catch-up with what we’ve been up to since Christmas, but our guns are loaded and we should have lots of new stuff to post here for the short term.
In early January, Liam’s new term at JSSL-Arsenal Soccer School kicked off (ha) at the National Stadium, which is just a short walk from our apartment. It was all very exciting and a little eerie to be playing in a big empty stadium. Nolan is starting to show some signs of interest in playing and we might just sign him up in a couple of months.

So, I am getting a bit of a hassle from some of my Facebook “friends” about how I managed to craft these Cookie Monster cupcakes for Liam’s classroom birthday party.

Someone turns 5 today!
Today is Chinese New Year and, more importantly in our house, it is Liam’s 5th Birthday!
We celebrated by going toy shopping and playing a few games on the Xbox. There isn’t really much to do around here during CNY. Pretty much all the shops are closed, with the notable exception of Toys’R'us.
It has been an extra long weekend with Christina home from work and the boys off school for Monday and Tuesday, but it is back to the regular schedule starting tomorrow.
Hope everyone has a great Year of the Ox!
