Forepaugh's Restaurant
Fine French dining in a gorgeous 1870 Victorian mansion, reputedly one of the most haunted spots in Minnesota.
Forepaugh's Restaurant occupies one of the most magnificent Victorian mansions in Saint Paul. Built in 1870 for Joseph Lybrandt Forepaugh, a prosperous dry goods merchant, the house has been lovingly restored and converted into one of the finest dining establishments in the Twin Cities.
The restaurant serves French-inspired cuisine in a series of elegantly appointed dining rooms, each furnished with period antiques, crystal chandeliers, and fine table linens. The atmosphere captures the romance and refinement of Victorian-era entertaining, making Forepaugh's a popular destination for special occasions and intimate dinners.
The mansion is also famous for its ghostly reputation. According to local legend, the spirits of Joseph Forepaugh and a housemaid named Molly are said to haunt the premises. Staff and guests have reported unexplained phenomena over the years, adding an element of mystery to the dining experience.
The restaurant's multiple dining rooms — including a beautiful garden-level space — allow for both intimate dinners and larger celebrations. The wine cellar features a carefully curated selection, and the staff provides attentive, knowledgeable service.
