A beautiful Romanesque church built in 1886, serving the Cathedral Hill community for over a century.

The Church of St. Luke is a handsome Romanesque Revival church that has served the Cathedral Hill community since 1886. Built of locally quarried limestone, the church features a prominent bell tower, round-arched windows and doorways, and the solid, enduring quality characteristic of Romanesque ecclesiastical architecture.
The parish was established to serve the growing English-speaking Catholic community in the Cathedral Hill area. While the nearby Church of the Assumption served German-speaking parishioners, St. Luke's became the spiritual home for Irish and other English-speaking Catholics in the neighborhood.
The church interior features traditional religious artwork, stained glass windows depicting biblical scenes, and a warm, intimate atmosphere that contrasts with the monumental scale of the nearby Cathedral of Saint Paul. The building has been well maintained over the decades and remains a valued landmark in the neighborhood.
