Stuart, Driscoll & Davis Houses

A trio of elegant Victorian homes on Summit Avenue representing three distinct architectural styles.

Gallery

The Stuart, Driscoll, and Davis Houses form a distinguished trio of residences on Summit Avenue, each representing a different facet of Victorian-era residential architecture. Built in close succession during the 1880s and 1890s, these three houses demonstrate the variety and richness of architectural expression that characterizes the avenue.

The Stuart House features Queen Anne styling with its asymmetrical facade, decorative shingles, and wraparound porch. The Driscoll House exhibits Romanesque Revival influences with its heavy stonework and arched openings. The Davis House presents a more restrained Classical Revival approach with balanced proportions and refined detailing.

Together, the three houses illustrate how Summit Avenue's builders and architects drew on different traditions to create individual expressions within the shared framework of a grand residential boulevard. Each house reflects the personality and aspirations of its original owner while contributing to the cohesive streetscape that makes Summit Avenue extraordinary.
